What's the best Diet?
I'm Ali, and I've tried every diet under the sun. It's kind of like dating "the bad boy" - it's great the first few days. You're in a honeymoon phase, riding on the back of his motorcycle with a cigarette in your mouth. Then something happens, and the bad boy doesn't love you back. So you ditch the bad boy and go for something more comforting, like a cookie.
Which leads to thoughts like: "I failed again." "I'll start tomorrow." And the worst one, "What's wrong with me?"
Nothing is wrong with you! You're perfect just the way you are. Dieting is an endless cycle of self-loathing and anxiety, and if it hasn't worked for you in the past, it's not going to work for you in the future.
Diets are hard. Diets make you crazy. Diets aren't fun. DIETS DON'T WORK.
They say healthy is the new skinny, but all I've seen is a bunch of food-obsessed people wandering the aisles of Whole Foods, riddled with anxiety that picking the wrong gluten-free cracker will kill them.
I started @avokween as a creative outlet, an excuse to play with my food and take pictures of my creations. It blossomed into a fantastic community with supportive men and women from all walks of life. I have never felt judged, shamed or ridiculed (except for the occasional internet troll) for my food choices. So why are we so hard on ourselves?!
Now starting Kween Foods, I want to mimic that supportive community and remind you that you're amazing. You're strong. You're capable of whatever life throws at you. You're a KWEEN.
