Bethany Ugarte of Lilsipper

Bethany Ugarte is the real freakin' deal. I am lucky enough to never struggle with IBS or other digestive issues, but I still relate to her in so many ways. She knows exactly who she is and is completely unapologetic about it, which is how she's built such a loyal following. She's incredible and I can't wait to share her interview with you!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Bethany and I love food! I also have dealt with digestive issues for most of my life and nearly died because of it. I’ve experienced quite a bit more than most people will in their entire life (all before the age of 25). I was molested twice as a child (unrelated), had my husband leave me, battled years of depression, overcame the shingles and a huge candida overgrowth all while combating severe IBS. Now 28, I’m a full time blogger who focuses on gut health and healing your body naturally through specific foods as I personally have done myself (and still continue to heal). I share specific recipes and health tips geared towards digestive health that have not only helped me, but countless others who have shared their testimony after incorporating my tips, tricks, and recipes in their life.

What was the inspiration behind your account?

I started it as just a personal hobby, sharing my love for not just healthy food, but the different recipes I had created for my own health journey I had yet to see anyone else do. Surprisingly, these unique different recipes caught on and people actually liked the "oddness" of these creations....

What advice do you have for someone who wants to start their own brand?

Be genuine! Don't start something just to do it, and don't start it to make money. Find something you are passionate about (it doesn't have to be food - fashion, makeup, gardening, drawing, etc) and run with it!

What do you love most about your job?

Helping others and knowing I am giving hope to those that may have lost it. Every day I receive messages from followers telling me that I have impacted and changed their lives and they're able to actually LIVE with less or no more digestive issues or discomfort!

What do you love most about yourself?

I love that I am ME, and no one else is ME. I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God and I may not look or act like the normal person, and I am ok with that.

Take us through a day in the life of Bethany. We want all the deets!

Every day is different - yet the same in some way! Haha I usually wake up quite early (around 4am) to get to the gym by 4:30am (if I am working out that day, usually 5 days a week), be back home by 6am....why? Well living in California that means it's already 9am on the East Coast and I am already "behind". Yes, California does have it's perks, but time is not one of them!

I always make my "classic" frothy coffee (my followers know the routine ha!) with goat ghee and gelatin. While sipping on my coffee, I typically catch up on IG posts, my own feed, as well as emails. Sometimes I get in a shower by 9am (that's a miracle!) and other days I don't shower until 3pm due to my busy "no time to care for myself" schedule. I have at LEAST one smoothie a day and love taking my followers along for the ride. I try and respond to as many comments and DMs as I can, however I have recently been more aware of my own health and must stop at some point to really care for my own sanity. Recipe creations usually happen....sometimes I share via IG stories before I post on my blog and Instagram, and sometimes I keep them a secret until the big reveal! I love sharing tips and what I do throughout my days in hopes that my daily routine can help someone out there.

And lastly, what makes you feel like a kween?

Self-care baby! Getting my nails done, wearing makeup, or just taking a long hot shower. Self care is something I have been trying to incorporate more lately and I must say, I am loving it! Let's face it, if you aren't caring for yourself, how can you care for others?
